Grant Writer

We are looking for an experienced Grant Writer who is passionate about increasing
support for the performing arts.

This role involves:

  • Researching, writing, and submitting grants
  • Preparing and submitting accountability reports as required by the funder
  • Exploring other funding applications that can be pursued
  • Building strong relationships with funders, sharing our story and encouraging
    them to help support the sustainability of our venue and activities
  • Being responsible for preparing and submitting any supporting documents as necessary, while using a tailored approach to make sure every submission makes a full impact

To apply for this role, it is essential you have:

  • The ability to understand and present financial information
  • A clear and persuasive writing style
  • Strong time-management skills to make sure deadlines are met
  • The motivation to work on your own and stay in touch online
  • The ability to prepare and update two-monthly reports to ensure our Trustees have the full picture of our grants situation

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience with Fundsorter
  • Understanding of the performing arts sector
  • Existing relationships with Waikato funders
    successful track record in grants management
  • Interest in and/or experience in other forms of funding eg bequests, sponsorships, public donations

There may be some overlapping work co-ordination with other volunteers, staff and contractors.

Time commitment:

  • Expected to be a maximum of 10 hours per month on average – some months there could be very little and others could be much more if several rounds are closing.
  • The exact hours spent vary month to month depending on grant application and accountability deadlines. You are expected to self-manage your time within the given budget over the year.

This is a contractor role, where you will be responsible for your own taxes, ACC and other business costs. You will need to have suitable laptop and software and be able to work from home. We do not provide space for you to work on-site.
